- Don't be afraid to ask for food not on the menu. At one fine restaurant, I asked the waiter to steam whatever vegetables they had in the kitchen and bring it out.
- If you choose beef, the usual vegetable accompaniment is potato. Ask to substitute another healthier choice.
- Look for healthier choices on the menu. Many restaurants are now offering lighter, healthier fare. Take advantage of it.
- Drink lots of water. If your travels include flying, you know its stressful, but its also very dehydrating. Forego the soda or juice and ask for water. You'll feel better at the end of the day and adjust better to time changes.
- Bring a small cooler with your own healthy food. If you're taking a road trip, you can restock along the way. If you're flying, be careful when you leave Hawaii. I had prepared a healthy lunch for myself and their wacky agricultural inspection made me throw it all away! Why can't government do things that make sense?
