You only need a ripe avocado, some cilantro, red onion, lime, hot sauce and your favorite salsa. For hot sauce, use sriacha sauce or in my case, I use a hot sauce we got as a wedding favor—a family recipe by the father of the groom. We brought home two bottles and are just starting on the second bottle—it goes a long ways.
Mash the avocado and add the ingredients to make a delicious guacamole that won't last long so no worries about it turning brown due to oxidation. Be sure to buy organic chips or you're sure to get GMO corn (learn about the dangers of GMO). I like any of the variety of organic chips at Trader Joe's. I'm partial to the blue corn chips with flax seed. I also like the organic blue corn chips with flax seed you can get at Target (Archer Farms).
Add two tablespoons of your favorite salsa to the guacamole and voila... you have a yummy dip for chips that everyone will love. For salsa I currently looooove The Crazy Gringo Taco Wagon Salsa. A fresh salsa I purchase at the local Farmer's Market. I also like the Trader Joe's Chunky Salsa in a jar.

ReplyDeleteGuacamole is one of my favorite food groups! Have you ever made a Greek version? You substitute balsamic vinegar for the lime juice, dried oregano for the cilantro. Instead of smashing the avocados, you cut them into chunks. Crumble a little feta and voila. Also very yummy!
ReplyDeleteGreat recipe, Chris! We're currently addicted to fresh salsa verde made with Farmers' Market tomatillos...yum!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Greek variation, Beth. I must try that.
ReplyDeleteNancy, sounds like you have a recipe to share. Fresh salsa verde... yummmm!
