Red Genius Juice Recipe

Here's a treat for your body. No tricks here. Just a simple healthy recipe for vegetable juice. The recipe comes from Sandy Halliday, detox specialist. I interviewed Sandy recently about her ebook The Definitive Detox Diet.

With a name like Red Genius, who doesn't want to get some of this nutrition in their bodies? Beets are rich in phytonutrients called betalains that provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and detoxification support for the body.

Ingredients
1/2 small beet, cleaned
1 medium carrot, scrapped
1 sweet potato, cleaned and peeled (if not organic)
1/2 small cucumber
small piece of ginger root, peeled

Directions
1. Cut vegetables into sizes to fit juicer feed.
2. Turn on juicer and feed vegetables.
3. Add more cucumber or water to taste.
4. Drink immediately and sip slowly. Enjoy!

Have you got a juicer? What do you like to juice in it? And what do you do with the extracted fiber?

  1. I looooove beets! Will be giving this one a try. Hubby downloaded Sandy's e-book, too, and has been researching the Gerson nutrition therapy for a while.

We love our Omega vertical juicer. Our faves are apple carrot (with some greens & broccoli thrown in), peach/apple/broccoli during peach season, and a rich tomato veggie. Occasionally can manage a mostly greens, as long as there's some lime juice and maybe an apple to tone it down a bit.

Pulp goes to one of three places: worm bin, compost bin, or the chickens :-)
