Gloria Greene and her husband moved to Cabo from Northern California ten years ago to enjoy a simpler, quality life and raise their children. They purchased a ten-acre piece of land and began to work the soil by hand adding compost, mulch and decomposing cover crops, turning the small valley in the desert into an Eden-like organic farm with nutrient rich soil. Using no pesticides or genetically modified seeds
Flora's Grocery is open Tuesday through Sunday, selling homemade breads, hand crafted bacon, ham, sausages, organic produce from the farm, jams, dressings and food to go. The Grocery is open for Breakfast and Lunch 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
Following signs past the new marina in San Jose del Cabo, we went up and over a few hills on a dirt road and down into the lush valley reclaimed from the desert. We looked around the grounds before settling into a picnic table for lunch alongside Flora's Grocery. The delicious salads and sandwiches we ordered were made with fresh ingredients from the farm and kitchen. I thoroughly enjoyed my roasted summer squash and feta cheese sandwich served with veggie chips.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Dinner from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Sunday Brunch 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Closed Monday.
The farm includes a variety of ranch dogs, all rescued from the Cabo area, seen lounging around the beautiful grounds. We were solicited by the charming Electra sitting patiently by our table hoping to catch a yummy morsel.
We were treated to a tour of the property following lunch.
I rate Flora's Field Kitchen 5 Stars. It's well worth the trip for lunch or dinner and a definite must if you are a foodie.
